"Grains over length with a good taper is the only way to line a Two Handed rod"
Bruce Berry - Beulah
With one clear, concise statement, Bruce Berry has taken the mystery out of
properly lining the two handed rod.
This is the reason these rods come alive with the recommended Beulah line.
Regressive Flex? We all know that a rod with a progressive flex bends
from the tip to the butt as more load is added. A "regressive flex" rod has
a somewhat stiffer tip which transfers the load more quickly to the middle
of the rod. The butt section of a regressive taper rod will also bend more
easily. Moving the casting load to the middle of the rod allows you to pick
up line more easily for your D loop. The advantage of a stiffer tip means
that the rod will handle longer casts and heavy flies. Of course, this can all
be fine-tuned.
