ULA stands for Ultra large Arbor (for retrieving line very quickly
or feeding it out very smoothly). Here is a reel that was designed
to be used around water, and even under water.  The most
important feature of this reel is that the smooth conical drag is
contained within a totally waterproof cylinder.  No foreign
material can contaminate the finely polished drag surfaces. That
way the mechanism stays the same  as new for years of hard use.
 

Each ULA reel is fully CNC machined in the U.S., with the highest
standards of precision and craftsmanship. And if you happen to
find them beautiful as well as functional, we won't take credit for
that. They are, like the fish, just products of their environment.
We have had the joy of testing this reel many days under the best
field conditions. It's a proven design. May the Force be with you.
