Nymph Fishing Rivers & Streams Rick Hafele

|
As I paged through this book, I couldn't help thinking, "Do we need yet another book that shows us the Lisenring lift, and the methods of Skues and Sawyer?"In Nymph-Fishing Rivers and Streams, aquatic entomologist and longtime fly fisherman Rick Hafele gives you what's necessary to successfully decipher the mysteries of trout life. Sections on tackle and pattern selection help anglers sort through equipment and imitations to find the most desirable outfit for their nymph-fishing needs. The 72-minute DVD, Nymph Fishing Basics, presents basic instruction on nymph-fishing techniques. Included is an angler's field guide to nymphs—describing in detail their habitat, behavior, importance to trout, and the most effective patterns and fishing tactics to imitate these aquatic insects. No, we don't need to re-learn these methods, but no book on nymph fishing is complete without mentioning them,.We highly recommend this one. $42.95

Fly Fishing Great Waters Jim Teeny 213pp.

|
You expect to see beautiful rivers and big fish in any book by Jim Teeny. I always thought that we should have a written account of the many products and ideas that Jim Teeny has brought to the sport of fly fishing. However, there is much more here. Whether intentionaly or not, Jim has done what few authors can do. He has captured the "essence" of fly fishing. When you finish this book, you are thankful for the sport of fly fishing and even more thankful that you have friends to share it with.

A Passion for Steelhead Dec Hogan Wild River Press Publishing 319pp

|
Even if you never get to the captivating steehead rivers of the Pacific Northwest, this book should be in your library. Dec covers the lifecycle, the flies, spey casting, fishing in different situations, and a bonus question and answer section. Photograpy and drawings are outstanding! When you teach someone steehead fishing, you have to get a little technical, but Dec even handles the technical stuff in an entertaining manner. Only someone with a passion for steelhead could have written this book!

Wet Fly Tying and Fishing Roger Fogg 114pp Crowood Publishing
Any book by Roger Fogg is a collector's gem and this is no exception. I have to admit, I like anything on North Country Spiders and wet flies and with his fifty years experience, Roger Fogg does it better than anyone. The historical information is complete and is very enjoyable reading. We also have the practical information such as fishing tactics and equipment for fishing these flies. The wet flies are divided into four categories and there are enough patterns to keep you busy for quite a while. The 200 color photographs are exceptionally well done. If I could only have one book on these types of flies, this would be it. www.crowood.com
