Sanibel Island, Florida Shell Capital of the World Snook Fishing
Sanibel is the "Shell Capitol of the World" but we were more interested in it's other title, "The Snook Capitol of the World" The fish can be as close as the first breaker and you are supposed to avoid spooking them. This is not an easy thing when there are shell collectors up at dawn combing the beaches. However, everyone gets along and you have miles of beach to walk. We hooked two heavy fish the first evening but never got to see them. The next day, a storm, that I knew would follow me churned up the Gulf, but there are plenty of alternatives when this happens. Lady fish and seatrout were the only action.

The only place we would ever stay is the West Wind Inn which is beyond the commercial part of the island and has good fishing right outside the door. Go HERE to visit the West Wind Inn
Info from the Bait Box was also helpful.
You will also have no probem getting a great meal anywhere on the island.
