I don't reach for the "Hi Vis sulphur" first
because it's easy to tie and economical. I
reach for it because it works. Tied in the
"haystack style" this one floats right in the
film. I prefer this type of fly on a TUE hook,
but they are a little difficult to find today.
Thread: Orange Danville 6/0
Tail:      Pale Gray Hi Vis
Wing:    Pale Gray Hi Vis
Hook:   Dai Riki 300 #16
1. Measure a shank-length bunch of
Hi-Vis and tie in above the barb for the
tail. Do not cut the remainder.
2. Advance the thread two thirds of the
way up the hook tying down the hi-vis
in the process.
3. Fold the wing over, tie down
and trim the remainder. Make sure
you bind down the butts.
4. Take about 30 wraps of thread
in front of the wing to stand it up.
Return thread to the tail tie in
point.
5. Apply dubbing and wrap up to
the base of the wing. Cross over
underneath to the front of the
wing and then back to the rear.
Return dubbing to the front of the
wing. Do two whip finishes and
forget the head cement.
Substitute olive dubbing and Dk.
Gray Hi- Vis wing for a good bwo.
