If you ask around, the ideal saltwater rod is one that will help you hit your target with the minimum number of false casts. While comparing some 8wt. rods, the Echo 9wt. Prime rod arrived. I took it behind the shop and it was everything I expected and more! However, if you can talk people into how much fun and how accurate a shorter rod is, you deserve a medal! I would definitely want the 12wt. for tarpon!
